About the Artist

One of Susan’s coil nail basekts took First Prize for 3-dimensional work at the 2025 Springfield Mayor’s Art Show, as well as the Springfield Art Commission Award. Susan received a 2024 Artist Fellowship Grant recipient from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities for her work in photography, and has since served on several of their juries.

Susan’s 3-dimensional and collage work has recently been exhibited at the Slip Gallery (Seattle, WA), the Springfield City Hall Gallery (Springfield, OR), the Emerald Art Center (Springfield, OR) and the Maude Kerns Art Center (Eugene, OR). Her photographs have been included in online exhibitions by Portland’s Blue Sky Gallery and Behemoth Magazine.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Susan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art (Honors Program, 2010) and a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design (Magna Cum Laude, 1991). This dual background in spatial design and fine art informs her approach, ensuring that every stitch and screw, and every wrapped wire helps bring her work to life.
